Sanjay Gupta Says America's Cultural Biases Are Stalling Marijuana Research

In a time when medical marijuana legalization is increasing, it seems its research would be doing the same. One of the biggest reasons for this is that medical marijuana is still classified as Schedule I, meaning it does not have any medicinal value, at the federal level. One of the most well-known fact-based cannabis advocates, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, says there is another reason this research is being hindered: that the United States is not recognizing the incredible research being conducted abroad. Gupta says, "If it's not U.S.-based science, we often don't pay attention to it. When we say there's not good studies out there, what we're really saying is there's no good studies coming our of brand-name institutions in the United States."
