Study: Marijuana Use Linked to Lower BMI

Data published in The Journal of Mental Health Policy and Economics has associated cannabis use with lower body mass index (BMI). At the University of Miami, investigators looked at the relationship between marijuana use and BMI using the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health. They concluded, “[D]aily female marijuana users have a BMI that is approximately 3.1 percent lower than that of non-users, whereas daily male users have a BMI that is approximately 2.7 percent lower than that of non-users.”
