Crohn's disease affects the digestive tract of more than half a million people in North America alone. Among the medical marijuana community it is said that cannabis is an effective treatment for Crohn's disease. "Those who suffer from Crohn's report that not only does cannabis effectively treat pharmaceutical drug side effects and produce a cessation of many symptoms, but often results in a complete remission of the disease." Unfortunately, many of these reports were only anecdotal, until a recent study in 2013 by the Meir Medical Center in Israel. Researchers found that participants who were treated with high THC strains twice daily for eight weeks saw a reduction or full remission of their symptoms. We hope this study is the first of many, so that there will be more evidence to support the anecdotal claims within the mmj community.
